Activists of the Evangelical Churches in Poland maintained international contacts and they received material and financial aid from Western countries. It was enough to arouse suspicion within the communist government that clergy of KChWE might have engaged in espionage on behalf of the West. For this reason, informers were recruited and the churches were under surveillance. In September 1950 the key activists of the Church were arrested.
